World Parents
A long time ago, the Sky Father and the Earth Mother were hugging so tightly that there was no room for anything to grow between them. Their children were cramped in the dark, so they worked together to push the Sky Father up high and keep the Earth Mother down low. This created the space for the wind to blow, the trees to grow, and for us to live and breathe. It teaches us that sometimes we need to make space for new things to happen. Even though the sky and earth are far apart, they are still a family that takes care of us.
They had to let go of each other so everything between them could live. Separation is not loss. It is the space where life grows.
World Parents (Nut/Geb in Egypt, Rangi/Papa in Maori) represent the Duality of Existence: separation of subject and object, necessary for experience to occur. The separation is an illusion maintained so that the Divine can witness itself through the lens of space and time.
