Legacy and Impact
Think about throwing a stone into a still pond. The stone disappears, but the circles of water keep moving further and further out. Your life is like that stone! The things you do, the things you make, and the way you treat people are the ripples. Long after you are gone, those ripples will still be moving. You can leave behind a beautiful song, a helpful invention, or just a memory of being very kind. The point is to leave the world a little better than you found it.
The stone sinks. The ripples do not. What you throw into the world keeps moving long after your hand is gone.
Legacy relates to generativity: the desire to guide the next generation and create things that outlast the self. A form of symbolic immortality. Whether through offspring, creative works, or systemic change, legacy lets an individual participate in the future and contribute to the Everlasting We.
