Epigenetics

You were born with a book of instructions called DNA, but your life choices can change which pages are actually read. If you eat healthy and exercise, your body highlights the good pages. If you are very stressed, it might bookmark the pages for worry. Your body is a conversation between your past and your present. You have the power to help your body read its best possible story.

Your DNA is not destiny. It is a book. And you are the one holding the highlighter. What you eat, feel, and do writes notes in the margins.

Epigenetics: external DNA modifications (methylation, histone acetylation) turning genes on/off without changing the sequence. Influenced by diet, stress, and toxins; some inherited across generations. Psychological experiences (trauma, joy) leave physical markers on the genome. Nurture physically becomes nature. Bridges social sciences and hard biology.

SOUND: A soft, calming voice: imagine it switching on happy signals in your cells.

SMELL: Fresh-cut grass: your ancestors smelled the same thing.

TASTE: A fresh vegetable: imagine the vitamins talking to your DNA.

TOUCH: Hugging someone you love: stress-melting signals changing your chemistry.

SIGHT: A photo of your grandparents: notice what you share and what is different.

BODY: Muscles after a workout: that burn is your body changing its own instructions.
