Light as First Motion
If you were in a totally dark room, you could not see your friends or your toys. The very first thing that happened in the story of everything was a giant flash of light! This light was not just for seeing; it was the energy that started everything moving, like a cosmic go signal. Because of this first light, we have warmth and life today. You have a little bit of that light inside you, which is why you feel warm when you hug someone. Light is the way the universe shares its energy with us every single day.
You have a little bit of that light inside you. Let there be light is not a religious sentence. It is a physics sentence. The first thing the universe did was turn on the lights. Before matter. Before gravity had anything to pull. Before atoms had partners. Light. The photon has no mass. It has no charge. It does not age. It experiences no time. And it is the fastest thing in existence. Every religion that ever existed made light the first chapter. Every creation story opens the same way. Because every creation story is telling the same truth from a different chair. Light is not a metaphor. Light is the literal first word.
Light as fundamental gauge boson of the electromagnetic force. The photon epoch: light trapped in dense plasma until recombination made the universe transparent. First light is still detectable as cosmic microwave background. Light is the medium of relationship in the physical world — the bridge between wave (immaterial) and particle (material). Light is not a metaphor. Light is the literal first word.
SOUND: The crackle of a campfire: light making sound as it eats.
SMELL: A shirt dried in the sunshine: the scent of light stored in fabric.
TASTE: A sun-ripened strawberry: sweetness that light built one photon at a time.
TOUCH: The warmth of the sun on your skin: the first force still touching you personally.
SIGHT: Red glow through closed eyelids facing a window: light so persistent it goes through you.
BODY: Arms stretched wide, muscles warming up: the body becoming a receiver for the original broadcast.
