Petition (Asking)

Asking for help is a way of showing that we trust God. It is like a child reaching up to a parent to be picked up. Even though God might already know what we need, asking helps us realize it too. It makes us focus on what is truly important in our lives. When we ask for others, it connects our hearts to their needs.

A child reaching up to a parent to be picked up. The child does not explain the physics of gravity. The child does not write a proposal. The child just reaches. The arms say everything the mouth cannot. Petition is not about changing God's mind. Petition is about changing your posture. When you ask, you admit you cannot do it alone. And that admission is the door. The arms go up. The walls come down.

Petition: the informativeness gate for personal needs. Requires articulation of state and acknowledgment of limitations, forcing regularization of internal desires from vague feelings to specific density matrices. Not about changing the Divine mind but changing the petitioner's alignment to recognize coincidences and signals previously hidden by their own noise. The arms go up. The walls come down.

SOUND: A whispered please: the smallest word carrying the largest weight.

SMELL: Rain on dry pavement: the scent of hope arriving.

TASTE: The metallic taste of adrenaline: the flavor of vulnerability.

TOUCH: Reaching out your hand for something invisible: faith as a physical gesture.

SIGHT: A coin tossed into a fountain: making the invisible wish visible.

BODY: Leaning forward with expectation: the body tilting toward the answer before it arrives.

Music: Be Thou My Vision by Traditional Hymn
