Order of Operations

The Order of Operations (PEMDAS) is like a recipe that tells you which ingredient to put in the bowl first. If you bake a cake by putting the frosting in the oven before the flour, it will be a mess! In math, we always do Parentheses first, then Exponents, then Multiplication and Division, and finally Addition and Subtraction. This rule makes sure that everyone in the whole world gets the same answer to the same problem.

A feeling of flow when you do things in the right sequence, like a dance where every step follows the beat.

This is the Hierarchy of Operations. In computer science, it is known as Operator Precedence — ensuring algorithms are deterministic, meaning the same input always produces the same output. This reflects the Causal Order of the universe, where certain events must precede others to create a stable reality. Without hierarchy, communication collapses into ambiguity.

SOUND: A conductor starting the violins before the drums in an orchestra.

TASTE: Tasting the layers of a sandwich in the order they were stacked.

TOUCH: Putting on your socks before your shoes.

SIGHT: Watching a flower bloom in stages — bud, then petal, then full flower.

BODY: Feeling your knees bend before you jump into the air.
