Yin and Yang
This old idea says you cannot have up without down, or light without dark. They are not enemies; they are partners that need each other to exist. Think of a battery with a plus and minus side: you need both to make the lightbulb turn on. Balance is not about picking one side; it is making sure both sides have their turn. Even the dark parts of life help make the good parts meaningful.
You cannot have light without dark. They are partners, not enemies. Both sides are needed to turn on the light.
Dialectical Monism: the universe is a single whole expressing itself through dualities. Parallels Complementarity in quantum mechanics (wave-particle duality), where seemingly contradictory properties are both necessary to describe full reality. Connects to Hegelian Dialectics and Quantum Superposition.
SOUND: The silence between notes in a song that makes the music beautiful.
SMELL: The smell of rain on dry dirt: petrichor.
TASTE: Sweet and sour chicken.
TOUCH: The feeling of a cool breeze on a hot summer day.
SIGHT: The black and white Yin-Yang symbol with a dot of each color in the other.
BODY: The heaviness in your muscles after a long day of light activity.
Music: Shiva by The Bombay Royale
