Wave-Particle Duality

Light is a bit of a shapeshifter. Sometimes it acts like a tiny little bouncy ball, and other times it acts like a wiggle in the water. It depends on how you look at it! This teaches us that things can be two different things at the exact same time. You are you, a person, but you are also a part of your family, a group. We are both individuals and connected to everyone else at once.

Things can be two different things at the exact same time. You are the dancer and the dance. The drop and the ocean. The note and the song. Choosing one does not erase the other. You are always both.

Bohr's complementarity principle: objects have complementary properties that cannot all be observed simultaneously. The ultimate Light and Darkness paradox of the physical world. The Everlasting We is the wave (field of all possibility), while the I is the particle (collapsed observation). To live fully is to recognize you are the dancer (particle) and the dance (wave) simultaneously.

SOUND: A vibrating string (wave) and the thump of the pick (particle): both at once.

SMELL: The cloud of perfume in the air versus the droplet on your skin.

TASTE: The pop of a salt grain versus the salty flavor spreading across your tongue.

TOUCH: Pressure of a single finger versus the warmth of a whole hand.

SIGHT: A single star versus the whole Milky Way: particle and wave.

BODY: Your heartbeat (a point) versus your whole body breathing (a wave): you are both.
