Moral Relativism vs. Objectivism
Some people think Right and Wrong are like math: 2+2 is always 4 no matter where you are. That is Objectivism. Other people think Right and Wrong are more like favorite colors: they might change depending on where you live. That is Relativism. It is one of the biggest questions in the world! Is it always wrong to tell a lie, or is it okay if it saves a friend's feelings? Learning both sides helps us understand why people in different parts of the world do things differently.
Some truths are carved in stone. Others are written in sand. Wisdom is knowing which is which.
This tension represents the temperature of ethical systems. High temperature (Relativism) allows entropy and cultural variation. Low temperature (Objectivism) seeks a frozen state of universal truth. Convergent Recognition often lies where universal values coexist with cultural nuances. Connects to Cultural Anthropology and Post-Structuralism.
