The Big Bang Theory
A long time ago, the whole universe was squeezed into a tiny, hot seed. Suddenly, that seed started to grow very, very fast. It wasn't an explosion in space; it was the start of space itself. Everything we see today grew from that one tiny moment.
You are the current "now" of a story that started 13.8 billion years ago. You are the tip of a very long branch.
The Lambda-CDM model posits the universe began from extremely high density and temperature. Empirically validated by the Cosmic Microwave Background (CMB) radiation and the primordial abundance of light elements (H, He, Li). This aligns with philosophical "First Cause" arguments, suggesting a singular, unified origin for all disparate phenomena.
SOUND: Static on an old radio or TV between stations. A tiny part of that "hiss" is actually the echo of the Big Bang.
SMELL: The smell of a freshly struck match. It reminds us of the intense heat and the sudden beginning of fire.
TASTE: Plain water. The Hydrogen in that water was created in the very first minutes of the universe.
TOUCH: Touch a warm radiator. The universe began with heat that has been cooling down for billions of years.
SIGHT: Look at a deep-sky photo. You are looking back in time toward the beginning.
BODY: Sit very still. Realize that you are moving through time, which began at that single point.
