Conservation of Energy
Energy is like a cosmic Lego set. You can't make new bricks and you can't throw any away. You can only rebuild them into different shapes. If you stop moving, your energy didn't vanish; it just turned into heat or sound.
Every breath you take is a recycled gift from a star that lived long ago. You are a continuous flow, never truly beginning or ending.
The First Law (ΔU = Q − W) establishes a closed-loop accounting system for the universe. It posits that the internal energy of an isolated system is constant. This connects to the "Law of Continuity" — nothing comes from nothing (Ex nihilo nihil fit). It suggests a fundamental "oneness" where all phenomena are merely phase shifts of a single, underlying essence.
SOUND: Listen to a drum hit; the movement of the stick becomes the vibration you hear.
SMELL: The scent of a match — chemical energy turning into heat and aroma.
TASTE: Eating an apple — the sun's stored energy becoming fuel for your tongue.
TOUCH: Rub your hands together fast; feel the "work" turn into warmth.
SIGHT: A lightbulb glowing — electricity transforming into visible waves.
BODY: Jump up; feel your muscles convert "potential" energy into height.
