Biological Decomposition

When a plant or animal dies, it becomes a very special gift for the earth. Tiny bugs and invisible decomposers break the old body down into vitamins and minerals for the soil. This healthy soil then helps new flowers, trees, and grass grow big and strong. Without the old thing going away, the new thing would not have the food it needs to start its life. It is like nature's way of cleaning up and planting a new garden at the same time. This cycle ensures that life always has a way to keep going.

The forest floor is not dirt. It is a library. Every leaf that fell. Every creature that rested. They became the ground that feeds the next tree. You are standing on a million love letters from the past.

Biogeochemical cycling moves carbon, nitrogen, and phosphorus through lithosphere and biosphere. Decomposition is the catabolic process releasing trapped nutrients from organic matrices. A biological rebirth where molecular building blocks of one organism become the structural foundation for the next, maintaining entropy balance of the ecosystem.

SOUND: The soft crunch of dry leaves under your feet.

SMELL: Rich, damp earthy dirt in a forest: the smell of recycled life.

TASTE: A ripe berry grown from the ground: sweetness made from decay.

TOUCH: Cool, wet mud squeezed between your fingers.

BODY: The ground pushing back against your feet as you walk: the dead holding you up.
