Decomposition & Rebirth
When a body returns to the earth, it becomes a wonderful gift for the planet. The tiny pieces of the body turn into food for the soil, which helps trees grow tall and flowers bloom bright. This means that a part of every person who has ever lived is still here in the grass, the trees, and the apples we eat. Life is like a big circle that never ends; things go away so that new things can start. You are a part of the earth, and the earth will always take care of your pieces.
Life is like a big circle that never ends. The apple you ate today contains atoms that were once inside a dinosaur. And a pharaoh. And a tree that fell a million years ago. Nothing leaves. Everything recycles. The body is a loan from the earth. The earth always collects. But the earth does not destroy what it collects. It replants it. The flower is made of the dead. The dead are made into flowers. The circle has no seam.
The human body is a temporary vessel for atoms. Post-mortem, autolysis and putrefaction break complex organic molecules into simpler inorganic substances — phosphorus, nitrogen, potassium — reintegrated into the biosphere. Material immortality: matter is neither created nor destroyed. The physical components remain active participants in the ecosystem. The body is a loan. The earth always collects. The earth always replants.
SOUND: Rustling leaves in a forest: the sound of the cycle continuing.
SMELL: Deep rich potting soil: the scent of transformation in progress.
TASTE: A crisp juicy apple: eating the gift the dead gave the living.
TOUCH: Soft green moss under your fingers: touching the bridge between death and life.
SIGHT: A field of wildflowers swaying in the wind: beauty funded by decay.
BODY: Feeling your feet rooted to the ground: the body already practicing its return.
