Empathy and Compassion

Empathy is like a superpower that lets you feel what someone else is feeling in your own heart. If a friend is sad because they fell down, you feel a little of that sadness too, which makes you want to help. Compassion is the action you take: giving a hug or helping them up. It is the invisible string that ties all people together so we are never truly alone. When we use our empathy, we understand the other half of the story.

Your heart has ears. It hears what mouths cannot say. The boundary between I and Thou dissolves when empathy speaks.

Empathy is the biological regularization preventing human interactions from becoming purely transactional. The shared-ignorance floor rises as emotional intelligence develops. Relates to Mirror Neurons in neuroscience and Bhakti (devotion) in Eastern philosophy, where the boundary between I and Thou dissolves.
