Temporal Awareness (The Now)

The Thinker loves to travel in time. It goes to the past to feel sad or to the future to feel worried. But the Observer can only stay in the Now. Right now is the only time that actually exists. If you keep your awareness on this very second, you will find that most of your problems disappear. The Now is a magic place where you are always okay.

The Now is a magic place where you are always okay. Name one problem you have right now. Not tomorrow. Not yesterday. Right now. In this second. Are you breathing? Yes. Are you alive? Yes. Are you reading? Yes. Then right now, in this exact second, you are okay. Every problem you have exists in a time that is not now. The bill is due next week. The argument happened yesterday. The diagnosis is about tomorrow. But right now — this second — you are here. And here has no problems. Here only has presence. The Now is not a moment in time. The Now is the exit from time. And the exit is always open.

SOUND: A single loud clap that happens suddenly: the past and future collapsing into one sharp now.

TASTE: An ice cube melting in your mouth right now: the taste of impermanence on your tongue.

TOUCH: Cold water splashed on your face: the present arriving through shock.

SIGHT: The second hand on a clock moving: the eyes watching the now become the past in real time.

BODY: A deep breath and feeling your lungs expand this second: the body proving that the present is the only tense it knows.
