Fractal Dimension

A line is 1D, a square is 2D. But fractals are in-between! A fractal line is so wiggly it is more than a line but not quite a square. Like crumpling paper: more than flat, but not a solid block. You do not have to fit into one category. The crinkles in your life make you more interesting.

You do not have to fit into one category. The crinkles make you more interesting. You exist in fractional dimensions.

Fractal dimension (Hausdorff) provides a statistical index of complexity. Roughness is measurable, and nature exists in fractional spaces, reflecting a universe far more informationally dense than smooth Euclidean models suggest.

SOUND: The graininess of a distorted guitar.

SMELL: The layered smell of a garden after rain.

TASTE: The texture of a blackberry made of many tiny bubbles.

TOUCH: Feeling a sponge or a piece of coral.

SIGHT: Looking at a mountain range against the sky.

BODY: Feeling the complexity of your joints moving together.

Fractal Dimension

More Than a Line, Less Than a Plane

A line is 1D, a square is 2D. But fractals are in-between! A fractal line is so wiggly it is more than a line but not quite a square. Like crumpling paper: more than flat, but not a solid block. You do not have to fit into one category. The crinkles in your life make you more interesting.
