The Block Universe: The Map of Time

Some scientists think time is like a giant loaf of bread that has already been sliced. The past, present, and future are all there at the same time: we just see one slice at a time as we move through it. The future is already there, waiting for us to arrive, just like a city exists before you drive into it. Every moment of your life is a permanent part of the universe's big map.

The loaf is already baked. You are just eating one slice at a time. Every moment you have ever lived is still there, permanent, part of the bread.

The Block Universe (Eternalism) stems from four-dimensionalist spacetime. Time is a dimension like spatial dimensions. Since relativity shows simultaneity is relative, there is no universal now, suggesting all points in time are equally real. Challenges the notion of becoming. Reconciles with General Relativity equations but creates tension with free will and the open future.
