Cross-Multiplication
Cross-multiplication is a truth detector for math. If you have two ratios and want to know if they match, multiply them in an X shape. If the two answers are the same, they are soulmates: perfectly in proportion. It is a quick way to find a missing puzzle piece. If you look at a problem from two angles and the results meet in the middle, you have found the answer.
What is true for the numerator has a corresponding truth in the denominator. As above, so below. When cross-products match, harmony is proven.
Cross-multiplication derives from the Property of Equality: multiplying both sides by denominators clears fractions to reveal underlying integers. It reduces complex relational data to a binary state: True (equal) or False (unequal). The Principle of Correspondence made algebraic.
SOUND: Two singers hitting a harmony where the vibrations lock together perfectly.
SMELL: Two different flowers that together create a perfectly balanced bouquet.
TASTE: Salt and caramel: different flavors that balance each other out.
TOUCH: Interlocking your fingers together tightly; they cross to create a strong bond.
SIGHT: Two sides of a scale perfectly level with each other.
BODY: The balance in your ears that keeps you upright when you tilt your head.
