The Eternal Now

Time is like a long movie, but we are always living in the exact moment the light hits the screen. God or the Divine is not just in the past or the future; the Divine is right here, right now. When you stop worrying about yesterday or tomorrow, you can feel the Great Big Everything breathing with you. This moment is the only one that is truly real. Being present is like opening a gift that never ends.

Being present is like opening a gift that never ends. You have never lived in the past. You have never lived in the future. You have only ever lived right now. The past is a memory stored in the present. The future is a prediction made in the present. There is only now. And now. And now. The divine is not waiting for you somewhere in the afterlife. The divine is in this breath. This heartbeat. This word. You are standing in eternity and calling it Tuesday.

Phenomenology and Eastern mysticism converge: linear time is a construct of the human mind. Block universe theory — past, present, and future exist simultaneously. Accessing the now bypasses the ego to connect with the eternal. Where the finite human experience touches the infinite divine nature. You are standing in eternity and calling it Tuesday.

SOUND: The silence between two notes in a song: the space where eternity hides.

SMELL: A candle the moment it is blown out: the scent of a transition you almost missed.

TASTE: A single piece of chocolate melting slowly on your tongue: time stopping for flavor.

TOUCH: Cold water splashed on your face: the zip that erases past and future.

SIGHT: A single drop of water falling into a puddle: one moment containing everything.

BODY: The stillness in your muscles when you freeze during hide-and-seek: the body tasting eternity.
